Artificial intelligence (AI) is a key technology for simplifying the development, manufacturing, and service of complex technical products, relieving employees from routine tasks, and automating processes. CONTACT recognized these potentials early on and is advancing the use of AI in its software products through internal projects and with renowned partners from industry and academia.

In this article, CONTACT’s AI team presents a new PLM application for semantic search based on a Large Language Model (LLM). The authors describe their journey from the initial idea to a viable solution. They also provide insights into the common pitfalls of AI projects and offer tips to implement such initiatives successfully.
