Due to the continuously increasing complexity and increasingly unclear requirements, product development projects with classic approaches such as the waterfall model are often no longer manageable. Agile procedures from software development are increasingly in demand or already in use in engineering projects. However, the positive experiences from software development cannot be transferred 1:1 to product development projects.

This white paper highlights the special requirements of project management in product development. It introduces the concept of hybrid project methods for combining traditional and agile approaches and shows the essential success factors for agile approaches in product development.
