Sersa Maschineller Gleisbau AG helps to ensure that everything runs smoothly in local and long-distance transport in and outside Europe. The Swiss company is the "machine builder" within the worldwide operating Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group, one of the largest privately owned railway engineering service providers: Sersa develops, manufactures, operates, and maintains special machines for the construction and maintenance of rail infrastructures.

Each track-laying machine is individually designed for Sersa's projects in Switzerland and some of its sister companies in other countries. Two years ago, Sersa replaced an in-house developed PDM system to optimize processes from engineering to approval and fulfill its quality obligations for technical documentation easier. The new CIM Database applications are hosted in the cloud. An article describes how the company uses the PLM software and outlines its benefits from business departments and management perspectives.
