B-Human wins RoboCup World Championship in Sydney
At the 2019 World Cup in Sydney, the football robots from B-Human bring the trophy back to Bremen. In the final of the Standard Platform League, the team supported by CONTACT Software beats the reigning world champion.
This year's RoboCup World Championship ended on Sunday very successfully for B-Human. The joint team of the University of Bremen and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) became world champion.
In an exciting final B-Human won against the reigning world champion HTWK from Leipzig. The team from Leipzig started strong and took the lead. Shortly before the end of the game, the soccer robots from Bremen scored the equalizing goal, followed directly with the 2:1 and won the game in the last minutes.
In addition to the world championship title, B-Human also triumphed in the mixed team final. Together with Team Berlin United they won the final in a narrow penalty shootout with 3:2.
Every year, the RoboCup World Cup clearly shows the developments in the field of artificial intelligence. The playing conditions are regularly made more difficult and the algorithms get more complex. A special challenge, for example, is back light, with which B-Human also had to struggle in the semi-finals.
"We are delighted about the success and congratulate B-Human on its seventh World Championship title," says Dr. Roland Drewinski, Head of Marketing at CONTACT Software. "This is really a great achievement."
