Press release – April 25, 2023
CONTACT Software at the prostep ivip Symposium 2023
In early May, one of the world’s leading conferences on industry digital transformation will again take place in Stuttgart, Germany. CONTACT Software will showcase how manufacturers can make products and processes more sustainable and efficient, preserve resources, and increase profitability.
In 2022, CONTACT’s CEO Karl Heinz Zachries opened the prostep ivip Symposium with his keynote on the importance of end-to-end PLM and IoT solutions for a sustainable future. At this year’s symposium from May 3-4, the software vendor will once again focus on green technologies. Under the motto “Where PLM meets IoT”, CONTACT shows how companies can future-proof their business by digitalizing the entire product lifecycle.
An effective circular economy is highly dependent on industrial digitalization. The capabilities to establish sustainable principles in the development, manufacturing, and use of products are becoming central factors of future-oriented corporate strategies and applied research. Together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology (IPK), CONTACT Research will give insights into its work and present new solutions based on the CONTACT Elements platform at the symposium.
The joint presentation on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) describes how the environmental impact of an automotive production line can be determined. For this purpose, the digital twin is used to calculate the CO2-Footprint, the environmental cost per part, and other relevant LCA factors.
The industry must also reduce its emissions from an economic perspective. Rising energy costs and a CO2 price that will more than double to 55 euros in 2024 threaten companies’ profitability. In a second presentation, CONTACT Research demonstrates how the energy consumption of factories and their production assets can be monitored, optimized, and adjusted for more cost-efficiency using an IIoT application.
In their third presentation, CONTACT and Fraunhofer IPK summarize findings from their meta-study on sustainability. They describe central fields of action from a management and operational perspective and explain why sustainability-oriented business models are worthwhile. Based on international, national, and industry-specific climate and environmental protection regulations, the speakers will shed light on which Industry 4.0 technologies help meet requirements and enable companies to become more resilient.
At the symposium’s exhibition, CONTACT Software will once again showcase its driving simulator which has already created a stir at the Hannover Messe. The race car from the Formula Student Electric team at the University of Bremen is connected via the Elements platform with CONTACT’s IoT and PLM applications. CONTACT will use the simulation for a closed-loop engineering scenario and will demonstrate how a defect in the race car is detected, remedied by a spare part, and the technical change is documented in the digital twin.
The prostep ivip Symposium 2023 is expected to attract more than 500 experts and executives from America, Asia, and Europe. CONTACT Software is located at booths 40 + 41. The presentation dates and further event information can be found here.
