CONTACT Software launches cloud PLM offering
CIM Database Cloud is CONTACT’s new ready-to-run solution for end-to-end digital product development. The no-code software combines enterprise-level PLM functionality with innovative cloud technology and offers cutting-edge IT security as well as powerful DevOps services.
Highly complex products, shorter innovation cycles, increasing product variety, and rising customer demands – companies today are challenged more than ever to optimize their product development processes. The use of isolated IT solutions, however, leads to information breaks and data silos, which cause delays, errors, and a lack of transparency. A professional PLM system solves these problems but usually requires a time-consuming and resource-intensive implementation. With its new cloud PLM offering, CONTACT Software removes these barriers: CIM Database Cloud combines enterprise-level PLM functionality with the performance, scalability, and security of the cloud. No additional costs for procuring and operating a dedicated server infrastructure are incurred.
CIM Database Cloud includes powerful functions for data management, project management, cost calculation, material management, and the synchronization of different bills of materials. Companies can seamlessly connect their existing IT landscape via interfaces to third-party applications such as CAD and ERP systems. This creates a continuous digital thread which connects processes and data flows across departments and simplifies collaboration.
The Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) application is ready to run out of the box due to its high level of standardization, explains CONTACT’s Managing Director Maximilian Zachries: “We have integrated best-practice templates into the software which draw on PLM experience from 30 years and hundreds of projects. Like all our products, CIM Database Cloud is based on our CONTACT Elements platform and optimized for rapid deployment.” The administration of CIM Database Cloud requires no programming skills and can be carried out by the specialist departments themselves. The intuitive user interface contributes to a high ease of use, allowing new users to quickly familiarize themselves with the software.
CIM Database Cloud is available as a SaaS application in three expansion stages: “Collaborate”, “Accelerate”, and “Innovate”. For companies with high customizing requirements, CIM Database Cloud offers optional DevOps services. This allows them to precisely map company-specific business processes and adapt functions continuously. Thanks to the different expansion stages, companies find the right solution for their demands and can gradually increase the maturity level of their product development. All while benefiting from a flexible licensing system that facilitates billing on a pay-per-use basis and ensures high cost-efficiency.
