In the context of the Smart Factory, we offer CONTACT Elements for IoT as a Manufacturing Operations Management system (MOM system).

Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) is a holistic manufacturing management system that supplements typical MES functions with digital solutions and provides a complete insight into the manufacturing processes to continuously improve their performance.

An MES system focuses on the execution and real-time monitoring of production processes and is primarily oriented towards the connecting assets on the shopfloor. In contrast, a MOM system is a more comprehensive system that aims at optimizing the entire value chain by coordinating information across different departments. Therefore, it includes not only the execution level but also features for maintenance management, document management, and much more.

Elements for IoT is developed for all industries and is used by make-to-order manufacturers with lot size 1 as well as in series production. You can configure the software with minimal effort, tailoring it perfectly to your processes and familiar terminologies.

If requirements arise that go beyond the standard scope of the software, you can act independently thanks to the no/low-code expansion options. And if things do become more complex, we are here to support you in customizing the software.

The software is suitable for medium-sized companies and corporations that are looking for enterprise software with comprehensive, end-to-end process support instead of isolated solutions. In nearly every customer installation, the system is integrated into the existing IT landscape via interfaces to control business processes across domain boundaries and share information transparently.

As companies have different requirements, it is worth starting with a collaborative, non-binding proof of concept (PoC). During this process, you can try out the software based on your processes and we gain insights into how you work and the challenges you face. This allows us to assist you in selecting the right functional modules for your company.

Thanks to our open, modular CONTACT Elements platform, numerous specialized applications are available as separate "building blocks" that you can freely combine using the plug-and-play principle.

This component architecture gives you the flexibility to start with a small range of functions and expand your IoT solution at your own pace when new requirements arise.

The pricing structure for Elements for IoT is composed as follows:

Per user: You purchase a license for each person who uses our software. The price varies depending on the selected range of functions.

Per connected device or site license: You purchase a license for each device that

transmits live information. The price varies based on the number of different real-time data collected (temperature sensor 1, temperature sensor 2, air pressure sensor, machine status...), but is not dependent on the volume or frequency of the transmitted messages.

Note: If you operate the software yourself, you can choose to either purchase or rent the licenses. If you commission CONTACT to operate the software, you can only rent the licenses.

For specific requirements: The best way to find out if additional components are necessary in your scenario is to talk to us. Please feel free to contact us.

CONTACT Elements for IoT enables the integration of customized algorithms and models for specific AI applications. For example, the software can use AI methods based on historical data to predict how much energy a system will require to manufacture a product. If the consumption values deviate from the forecast, your employees are automatically notified. This helps to identify errors and adapt the production process.
A second example relates to asset management on the store floor. Analyzing your machine data allows you to transform your maintenance from a calendar-based, preventive approach to dynamic, proactive maintenance (predictive maintenance). This maximizes the performance of your systems in the long term.

The Asset Administration Shell (AAS) is a vendor-independent standard for describing digital twins, defined by the Industrial Digital Twin Association (IDTA). It enables seamless information exchange across system boundaries and is therefore a key technology in industrial digitalization.

In CONTACT Elements for IoT, digital twins can be described according to the specification of the asset administration shell. This ensures cross-system interoperability.

During production, the asset administration shell can be generated automatically for each end product and filled with production information (e.g. corresponding to the digital name plate).
